Travel Tips: Choose the Right Accommodation for Your Trip
Updated: Oct 5, 2020
Let's talk about one of the most important questions when it comes to travel. Where am I going to stay? Nowadays, there are plenty of options available for all travelers. In order to find the best rates, I would recommend staying at the property (whether a hotel, apartment or hostel ) for more than two days. Yes, staying longer can have a significant impact on your budget. Hotels and private properties offer the best rates for a more extended stay. Sometimes, properties even limit reservation bookings for at least two days. So depending on your travel needs, choose your hotel wisely.
Plan Your Stay in Advance
Whether you prefer to stay at a luxury hotel, apartment, or a hostel, the best way to find an affordable price is to plan your stay in advance. Why? Looking ahead of time will allow you to find the most affordable deals without spending extra money $$$ for your visit. It's tough to find the best rates for any hotel, apartment, or hostel last minute. I highly recommend you do some research and compare prices on different websites and apps. Some of the Websites/Apps I use to compare the best deals are Expedia, Trivago, Hotels.com, Booking.com, Priceline.com, and Airbnb. These websites offer very competitive pricing with guest reviews, pictures and details of the rooms and amenities. I also recommend checking some reviews before you rush to book anything. Sometimes you may find some nice pictures with some not so-nice reviews. That is why its important to do some research before you book anything. Take your time and check what people have said about their experience at the property.
Find Your Best Accommodation
It's essential to find an accommodation that suits your needs. Whether you are a solo- traveler looking to spend a few hours or staying with your partner, family, and friends for a few days, there are plenty of options available for everyone. I recommend staying at a hotel for couples or solo travelers. You might be wondering why choose a hotel? I m all about comfort, peace of mind, safety, and hotel rooms provide everything you need for a pleasant stay. The idea of a hotel stay is to accommodate clients in the best possible way. If you are like me, look no further than a hotel.
For families and group travelers, I prefer looking for an apartment on Airbnb. You will not only find many different options from single rooms to apartments, house rentals, even something unique as a yacht, boat, or a castle. You can find almost everything on Airbnb. However, you have to be very diligent when booking with Airbnb and ensuring that you communicate with the host to avoid any surprises. Make sure to confirm your booking and check-in time as well. Unlike hotels, you would have to book your Airbnb stay in advance to avoid any delays or interruptions. The price for Airbnb is usually lower than hotels (depending on your location ).
There are plenty of options for backpackers and solo travelers. Again depending on your style, you can choose anything from a hotel, Airbnb, or even a hostel. Yes, Hostels! You heard me right. Contrary to the popular belief, some hostels offer a variety of entertainment options with private and dorm rooms. Nowadays, a lot of solo travelers and backpackers prefer to stay at hostels. If you are on a tight budget and want to get the cheapest and most accessible accommodation, the hostel might be the best option for you! Again, it all comes down to your budget and style. Choose what makes you feel comfortable and safe!
Choose Your Location Wisely
Make sure to choose the right location for your stay. You would probably find a much cheaper deal outside of the city center. However, the cost of traveling can add up whether you use Uber, Taxi, or paying for a car rental. If you are looking for a weekend getaway and want to be comfortable walking around the street and exploring, staying at a downtown location might be a good option for you. Make sure to check if the hotel offers a free parking spot. Usually, downtown locations charge a daily fee for parking, which can add an extra $$$ to your overall budget. If you like to avoid the city's chaos and the hidden cost of paid parking at the hotels, look for a place outside the city center. Usually, Airport hotels offer the best competitive rates (sometimes free parking). If you are staying outside the city, I recommend renting a car or bike to avoid extra costs for traveling.
These are some of the tips to help you find the best accommodation for your next travel. In the end, it all comes down to your style and budget. Let me know about your experience. What do you think which one best suits your style and why?
